It is a polyethylene product labelled PE. The most widely used plastic. Its biggest user is the packaging industry (plastic carrier bags). There are several types according to density. HDPE is most commonly used for packaging products, beverage bottles, detergent bottles, margarine cans, garbage containers and water pipes. MDPE is most commonly used to make gas pipelines, fittings, bags, shrink wrap, packaging film and carrier bags. It is more impact resistant and less likely to crack than HDPE. LDPE has lower tensile strength but higher flexibility. LDPE is most commonly used for film and plastic bags.
